Dear AC Dentistry Family,
As many of you know, my wife and I originally moved to Chicago in July of 2009 so that she could attend Northwestern University for her PhD degree in Clinical Psychology. When we moved here, I originally worked in a few offices as an associate, but then found my home when I stepped into AC Dentistry in December of 2011. Over the past four and a half years, I feel like we’ve all grown with each other. Many of you I’ve seen enter into marriage, have children, finish degrees of your own, take on new jobs, and go through the twists-and-turns of life. Likewise, many of you have witnessed my family grow with the birth of my daughter Maya, and recently learned of a son to be born September 4th.
As I sat down to write this letter, I found a perfect quote and it states “sometimes the hardest thing and the right thing are the same”. With that, the hardest decision that my wife and I recently have had to make is to move to Minnesota so that she may pursue some unbelievable opportunities in her field. My plan is to join my father-in-law and take over his dental practice as he nears retirement in the next few years. While this was probably one of the hardest decisions to make, in the end, we feel like it will be the right one.
I wish that I could sit down with each and every one of you to tell you how much I appreciate your trust and confidence in me. From the minute that I walked into this office, it felt like we had known each other for a long time. The warm welcoming and the laughs over the years are memories that I will never forget. Some of you even enjoyed my corny jokes, and stories! The connection that I’ve developed with so many of you is one that I hope will continue even if my family and I are in a different city. As I’ve told those patients who have moved away, once a patient of mine, always a patient of mine.
The search for my replacement was exhausting and took several months. There were many sleepless nights when I worried about whom I could trust to serve your needs. My search has come to an end and starting August 1st, I will be referring all my patients to Sparrow Dental and Dr. Nimesha Patel. As soon as I met Dr. Patel, I knew that she was the one. She is a truly caring doctor who holds her patients in very high regard, and has exactly the same concern for clinical excellence and philosophy of practice as I do. She is originally from the UK, attended the prestigious New York University College of Dentistry in New York City, NY., Dr. Patel completed her General Practice Residency at the Montefiore Medical Center, and her Honors Student Residency at Lincoln Hospital Medical Center in Bronx, NY. She performs the same procedures that I do and I strongly recommend to all my patients to continue receiving dental services from her. Her office is also in-network with the same PPO dental plans as AC Dentistry. If you’re not familiar with her location, it is on Ashland/Wellington in the same shopping complex as the Jewel and Office Depot (with free ample parking!). I encourage you to visit her website http://www.sparrowdental.com to become more acclimated to your new dental home.
To help ease everyone over to the new practice, I will be seeing you there starting August 1st, and will remain there until the middle-to-end of September when we move to Minnesota. My hope, and desire, is that you all trust my decision and who I’ve personally picked to continue your dental care. In addition, you can also find Bernie at the front desk!
I hope to see you all soon at Sparrow Dental, and if you are ever in the Minnesota area, please let me know.
